What does Optimal make?

Three at-home red light therapy devices, each shaped for one part of the body. The Red Light Therapy Cap for thinning hair. OptimalNeck Pro for a neck that has stopped letting go. Optimal Ear for the ears.

All three run on the same principle and the same economics: you buy the device once, you use it at home, in your own time, and nobody has to fit you into a diary.

Why does red light do anything at all?

Because it is absorbed rather than felt. Red at 660nm and near-infrared at 850nm are taken up by the energy-producing machinery inside your cells — the part that decides whether tissue has the fuel to repair, release or grow. This is the band first explored in NASA-funded research and used in FDA-cleared light-therapy devices since the early 2000s.

It is not a drug and it is not heat. It is natural light doing something your body already knows how to use — which is why it carries no side effects, while the pills, topicals and injections aimed at the same problems all come with a list of them.

I have tried other things and none of them lasted. Why would this be different?

Because most of what you have tried was aimed at the symptom, not the engine.

A heating pad warms less than an inch down and cools the moment you take it off. An adjustment repositions bone that clamps straight back. Pills turn the alarm down while the fire keeps burning. Serums sit on the scalp surface, above the follicle root. Every one of them can feel good on the day and change nothing by the weekend.

None of them deliver energy to the tissue. That is the step our devices are built around, and it is why the effect is judged over weeks rather than hours. The full explanation is laid out here.

Why choose light over pills, serums or injections?

Because of what you are agreeing to alongside the result.

Prescription tablets and topicals for hair carry documented side effects, and they only keep working for as long as you keep taking them. Painkillers and muscle relaxers trade your afternoons for a muffled alarm. Injections wear off, and each one tends to buy less time than the one before. Every one of those puts something into your body that your body then has to process.

Red and near-infrared light put nothing into you at all. No prescription, no chemicals, no dependency, no side effects — and once you own the device, no repeat cost. That is the trade most of our customers say they wish they had been offered first.

Which device should I start with?

Whichever problem is costing you the most right now. Thinning at the crown, a part that keeps widening, more hair in the drain than there used to be — start with the cap. A neck that seizes at a desk, aches between the shoulder blades, or wakes you at 2am — start with the neck wrap.

They treat different tissue and do not overlap. If both apply, most people run the neck wrap in the morning and the cap later in the day.

Do I need a prescription, a clinic or a practitioner?

No. No referral, no copay, no waiting room, nobody's permission. Fixed session length, automatic shut-off, one button.

If you have a diagnosed condition or take prescription medication, tell your doctor you are adding it — that is sensible with anything new, and it is not a hurdle we are trying to talk you past.

Red Light Therapy Cap

What is actually inside the cap?

56 LED lamp beads spread across the whole dome, running three wavelengths: blue at 450nm, red at 660nm and near-infrared at 850nm. The LEDs sit against the scalp rather than hovering above the hair, which is the difference between light reaching the follicle and light landing on your haircut.

How is this different from the serum and shampoo I already use?

Depth. A topical works in the surface layer and then stops. The follicle root — the part that decides whether a hair comes back thick, thin or not at all — sits deeper than any cream reaches.

Light at 660nm and 850nm passes through that layer instead of resting on it. That is why the cap is not a competitor to your routine: it is the part your routine was missing, and plenty of customers run both.

How long does a session take and how often do I need it?

Twenty minutes, and it shuts off on its own. Three to five sessions a week is the protocol.

Be honest with yourself about that number before you buy. Hair works on a cycle measured in months, so consistency beats intensity every time — twenty minutes four times a week for three months will do more than an hour once a fortnight ever will.

When would I expect to see something?

Here is the honest version rather than the marketing one. Weeks 3-6: the first thing most people notice is less hair coming out — in the shower, on the pillow, in the brush. Months 3-6: the visible part, where new growth has had time to show. Anyone promising you a transformed head of hair in a fortnight is selling you something biology cannot deliver.

That is exactly why we give you the full 30 days to test it properly.

What are the four light modes and which should I use?

Red alone, blue alone, red with infrared, and all three together. Plus four brightness levels and a choice of steady or 10Hz pulsed output.

If you do not want to think about it: run red plus infrared, every session. Infrared reaches deeper than visible red alone, and switching modes constantly is not what makes this work — showing up daily is.

Will it fit me, and what about my hair?

It adjusts to roughly a 65cm head circumference, which covers most adults, and it is worn like an ordinary cap. Part or lift longer hair so the LEDs meet scalp — light cannot treat what it cannot reach.

Can I use it with minoxidil or finasteride?

Yes, and many customers do. Light does not interact with a topical or a tablet, and it adds no side effects of its own to a routine that may already have some.

Apply topicals after your session rather than before, so the light is not travelling through a wet layer of product, and start with a clean dry scalp. If you are on a prescription, your prescriber should know you have added it.

Battery, charging and what is in the box?

A 700mAh rechargeable lithium battery, up to about 70 minutes of use per charge — roughly three sessions — charging over its supplied cable at 5V. Nothing is plugged in while you wear it.

In the box: the cap, the light host unit, the charging cable and the manual.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the lining and the LED surface with a barely damp cloth and let it dry before the next session. Never submerge it, never machine wash it, keep the charging port dry, and skip solvents — the shell is leather, cloth and neoprene.

OptimalNeck Pro

Why does my neck keep locking up even when scans say it should not hurt this much?

Because the scan photographs the bone, and the bone is not the part deciding how much you hurt.

When your nervous system senses pressure near a nerve it clamps the deep neck muscles around the segment like a splint. A muscle held at full clench squeezes its own blood vessels shut, so oxygen stops arriving. And here is the part almost nobody mentions: releasing a muscle costs energy. A muscle with no oxygen has no energy, so it physically cannot let go — not will not, cannot. It stays locked for months or years, completely independently of what the bone is doing.

That is the cycle the neck wrap is built around, and it is explained in full here.

What does the 3-in-1 actually do?

Three things at once, in the order the problem requires. Deep massage works the clamped muscle loose. Penetrating warmth floods it with blood the moment it opens. 660nm and 850nm light switches its cellular engines back on so the release still holds tomorrow.

Do one or two of those and it re-forms overnight, which is the story of every heat pad and massage gun you have owned. All three together is the point of the device.

How is this different from the heating pad in my cupboard?

A pad delivers surface warmth that dies less than an inch down and ends when you unplug it. It feels lovely. It changes nothing structurally.

Here the heat is one third of the job — it is paired with massage that reaches the deep muscle and with the wavelength pair studied in published neck-pain research. The pad treats the afternoon. This treats the reason the afternoon keeps happening.

How long is a session?

Fifteen minutes a day. One button, and it ends by itself. Most people attach it to something they already do — morning coffee is the common one, because a routine you have to remember is a routine you will drop.

When would I expect to feel something?

Usually sooner than the cap, because muscle responds faster than hair grows. Many people feel the deep release inside the first session or two. What takes weeks is the release holding between sessions — a neck that has guarded for years does not stand down in one afternoon.

Give it daily use for at least two weeks before you judge it. That is the same thing we would tell you if you were standing in a clinic.

Where does the light shine, and how do I control it?

From the inner panel against the back of your neck, where the deep muscle band and the cervical spine sit. The outside of the wrap stays plain black — nothing shines at your throat.

One button on the module on the outside. No app, no pairing, nothing to install. Warmth and vibration are adjustable, so it can be gentle before bed or firmer on a bad morning. Recharges over USB-C.

I have had neck surgery, or I have an implant. Can I use it?

Ask your surgeon or doctor first — and we would rather lose the sale than have you guess. That applies to spinal hardware, a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device, recent surgery, and any active diagnosis in the neck.

One more thing we will say plainly: if your hands are losing coordination, if you are dropping things, if your walking has changed, or if you have had any loss of bladder or bowel control, see a physician this week. Those can be signs of something a device is not the answer to.

What is in the box?

The OptimalNeck Pro, a USB-C charging cable, a quick-start guide and access to our red light therapy masterclass.

Safety, limits and honest answers

Is it safe? What about side effects?

This is the part that makes light therapy different from almost everything else offered for these problems. It is natural light with no side effects — non-invasive, drug-free, and using no UV, so it does not tan, burn or thin the skin.

Nothing is swallowed and nothing is absorbed into your bloodstream. There is no dependency, no tolerance that builds, no interaction with your other medication, and nothing that accumulates in your system over months of use. Compare that with the warning label on a course of pills or the consent form for an injection.

It is also not something you can overdo by trying harder: the session length is fixed and the device shuts off by itself.

What will these devices NOT do?

We would rather tell you now than refund you later. They do not change bone. No light, heat or massage reverses narrowing on a scan, and anyone claiming otherwise is lying to you. They do not regrow hair from a follicle that is already gone. They are not a treatment for any disease, and they do not replace care your doctor has prescribed.

What they do is give tissue the energy and circulation it has been short of. Where that is the bottleneck, it changes your days. Where it is not, you have 30 days and a refund.

Do I need eye protection?

Neither device points light at your eyes — the cap directs its LEDs down into the scalp, the wrap shines inward at the back of the neck. Do not stare into the LEDs while it is switched on and out of position, the same as you would not stare at any bright light.

Who should not use these devices?

Check with a doctor first if you are pregnant, take medication that causes light sensitivity, have a seizure disorder, have an active skin cancer or an undiagnosed lesion in the area, or are under specialist care for the part of the body you want to treat. Do not use either device on broken or irritated skin.

Are these medical devices? Are they FDA-cleared?

They are consumer wellness devices for home use and they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

The technology they are built on — red and near-infrared light therapy — has been the subject of published clinical research for decades and includes devices cleared by the FDA for the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, stiffness and muscle spasm. That is a statement about the category, and we are deliberately not stretching it into a claim about your condition.

Can I use both devices on the same day?

Yes. Different tissue, different areas, short sessions. Run them one after the other rather than wearing both at once.

Price, delivery and the guarantee

Why buy a device instead of paying for treatment?

Run the arithmetic on what you are doing now. A course of hands-on therapy or a run of adjustments at $85 a visit passes the price of either device inside a month, and it stops the week you stop turning up. Injections wear off, and each one tends to buy less time than the last. Clinic laser caps and in-office light sessions are priced per visit, indefinitely.

These are bought once and used at home for as long as you own them. That is the whole economic argument, and it is the reason most of our customers arrive here after the menu, not before it.

Where do you ship, and how long does it take?

We ship across the United States and shipping is free on every order. Orders are processed in one to two business days, and delivery is typically 7 to 9 business days from dispatch. A tracking link is emailed the moment your order ships.

What is the 30-day guarantee, exactly?

You have 30 days from delivery. If it did not do what you hoped, contact our team and we refund you in full. No forms, no store credit, no interrogation, no restocking fee.

We ask one thing in return: actually use it daily for the first two weeks before you decide. Tissue that has been starved for years does not respond on anyone's schedule, and we would rather you get the result than get your money back.

Is 30 days really enough to judge it?

Yes — because you are judging direction, not the finish line. Within 30 days of daily use a guarded neck has started standing down, shedding has begun to slow, and you can feel whether this is working for you. You do not need the final result to know the trend.

If day 30 arrives and you feel nothing, tell us and we refund you — that is the deal.

Is there a warranty?

Yes — every order carries our 30-day money-back guarantee. If anything arrives damaged or isn't working as it should, email us with your order number and our team will sort it out — no forms, no hoops.

Why does stock run out?

We manufacture in small calibrated runs. The 660 and 850nm arrays have to stay inside spec or the whole point of the device quietly disappears and you are left holding a heating pad with lights on it. When a run sells out the wait has been four to six weeks. If the buy button is live, we have stock today.

Can I buy these in a shop or on a marketplace?

No. We sell directly from this website only, which is how the price stays where it is. Our 30-day money-back promise applies to orders placed here — a unit bought through a third-party reseller is not covered by us.

How do I contact a human?

Through our contact page, and a real person on our team answers. Include your order number if it is about a specific order.
